Seamus Elliott - HR director

Seamus began his career as a theatre porter, then became a chargehand porter before moving into hospital management.

Seamus ElliottHe moved into personnel work and went rapidly from junior personnel officer to a director.

He qualified with the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development while working in a major teaching hospital, and is now a Fellow of the Institute.

After three years as director of personnel of a health authority, Seamus joined the Beds and Herts Ambulance Service, as director of professional and organisation development, as the two old county services were amalgamating.

He led the Emergency Service Transformation project, implementing high performance ways of service delivery and also completed an MBA in public services.

Seamus moved to East Anglia as director of human resources to begin a recovery programme following a regional inquiry in April 1999. He was appointed as director of human resources in the new East of England service in 2006. He is vice chairman of the ASA’s Human Resources Committee. Away from work, he enjoys mountain walking, off-road biking and water sports.
