Fatal crash involving motorcyclist

A man has died following a road traffic collision in south Essex this morning (Wednesday).

 

The ambulance service was called to the scene at about 8.51am after a motorcyclist and car were in collision on Bread and Cheese Hill, Benfleet. Two ambulances, a rapid response vehicle, the air ambulance, and a BASICS doctor were dispatched to the scene.

 

An ambulance spokeswoman said:  “We carried out the full resuscitation protocol on the motorcyclist, a 49-year-old man, whilst at the scene and on the way to Southend Hospital in a land ambulance, but sadly he was declared deceased after arriving there.

 

"Crews also attended to one woman at the scene who presented signs of suffering of shock, but she did not require hospital treatment."
