First Responders thank community for support

Nick with staff at Artemis with their latest certificate of thanks

The Stanford and Corringham First Responder group has placed several collection boxes in the area to raise funds, and deputy co-ordinator Nick Luff has presented sponsors with certificates to recognise how much they raise for the cause.

Nick said: "We  really do appreciate the work being done by all sponsors. Artemis take-away in Corringham in particular raised more than  £100 in just eight weeks."

Members of the public can also raise money for the group when they use the internet. By logging onto http://www.easyfundraising.org.uk/stanford1stresp and using the links on the site to retailers including Amazon, Next, M&S, John Lewis, and Debenhams, up to 15% from every purchase made will be donated to Stanford First Responders.

And by using http://stanford1stresp.easysearch.org.uk which utilises results from Yahoo!, MSN Live Search and Ask.com, the group recieves 50% of Easysearch's advertising sponsors.

ENDS

First Responders are people who live or work in the local communities and are activated by the East of England Ambulance Service to attend emergency calls where time can make the difference between life and death.

Each volunteer takes it in turn to be 'on call'. They carry basic first aid equipment and a simple-to-use Automated External Defibrillator (AED). The health and emergency operations centre sends them to category A (immediate life threatening) medical calls. First Responders are dispatched at the same time as the ambulance crew, but often arrive before the ambulance crew because they are based locally. The responder then provides care until the ambulance arrives, usually only a few minutes later
