Four taken to hospital following collision in Tendring

A man suffered a serious head injury and three others were hurt following a collision between two vehicles on Crown Lane, Tendring, last night.

The service was called to the scene at about 9.40pm following reports that a car and van had collided, and the car had caught fire. Initially it was believed that the occupants were trapped inside the vehicles, but this was not the case.

Three crews, a rapid response, and a doctor rushed to the scene. As well as the patient with the serious head injury, one man had a head injury and hip pain, another man suffered chest, shoulder and back pain, and a fourth man suffered minor injuries.

All four were taken to Colchester General Hospital for further care.

Jim Flynn, last night's duty manager at the health and emergency operations centre where calls to the service come in, praised the crews for their work: "They dealt with it very well from a HEOC point of view, and the scene was cleared as quickly as possible."
