Minor injuries after lampost collision
A woman escaped with minor injuries after the car she was driving hit a lampost in Canvey yesterday (Sunday).
The ambulance service was called to Little Gypes Close at about
12noon, and paramedic Tracey Valentine and emergency medical technician
Jo Campbell were dispatched.
Jo said: "The patient complained of central neck pain, and lower back
and hip pain. We put a collar on to prevent movement and while in the
car we assessed the patient to see if there was any damage to the rest
of body, which thankfully there was not.
"To remove the 20-year-old woman from the car, we requested the fire
service to attend and take the roof off. Once they had done that, we
were able to take the patient from the car using the long board to
prevent any movement of the spine in case there was any injury.
"We took her to Southend General, and checked up on her later to find
out she had whiplash and bruising."
