Cycle response units
Sometimes, two wheels are better than four. Our cycle response units in Norwich and King's Lynn can cut through crowded streets and alleys to reach critically ill patients in minutes.
In our crowded
urban centres and at special events with large crowds, a pushbike can
often reach seriously ill patients much quicker than a vehicle could.
Using alleys and pedestrian areas, our cycle response units can
navigate town and city centres quickly and safely. Also, because they
are already based in the town or city centre, they are often just two
or three minutes away from the patient.
They carry small or
lightweight versions of all of the standard, life-saving equipment that
paramedics carry in response vehicles, including oxygen and a
defibrillator.
Time really is critical for patients who suffer a cardiac arrest. If we can reach them within three or four minutes then they have a significantly higher chance of survival.
Units operate in Norwich, the first such unit in the country, King's Lynn and
at the V Festival in Chelmsford, plus at other special events.
