Volunteer car service

Volunteer car drivers make a huge difference to patients across the East of England who rely on them for lifts to and from hospital appointments.

The volunteers come from all walks of life and donate their time and the use of their own vehicles to pick up patients at home, take them to hospital and give Ambulance car driverthem a lift home again.

The patients who use the service are often elderly people who don’t have alternative means of transportation but are well enough that they don’t need an ambulance.

If you want to volunteer, you will need to apply and meet certain requirements, such as passing an enhanced Criminal Records Bureau check, holding a good driving record and having a safe and reliable vehicle.

Volunteers are not paid for their time but do receive compensation for their driving expenses on a per-mile basis.
