Primary care

We provide GP out of hours care in Norfolk and parts of Essex.

In addition we provide Emergency Care Practitioners (ECPs) to work in the out of hours services across the region.

GP out of hours services are the ones we use when a member of our family is taken ill outside the normal surgery opening times.

Patients ring their normal surgery number and are either transferred direct to the ambulance control centre or asked via ansaphone message to call us.

Callers will be assessed on the telephone by a doctor, and then receive one of the following:

  • Telephone advice

  • An invitation to attend a primary care centre

  • A visit from an ECP or a nurse

  • A visit from a mobile GP

The out of hours period is defined as:

  • 18:30 to 08:00 Monday to Friday
  • Weekends 18.30 Friday to 08:00 Monday
  • Public and Bank Holidays
